Helen Morton-Jones 

Principal and Academy Teacher 


I started Making a Scene in 2010 to bring quality educational drama to Northland. I'm a qualified and registered Speech and Drama teacher and love adding to my skill set. In 2012 I was awarded the Clair Marsh Award for services to Speech Communication Association NZ and in 2013 I trained in the world renowned USA based Estill Voice Method. In 2016 I trained in Voice Over at the Australian Film Radio and TV School and in TV Presenting with the Sydney TV Training Academy. I'm focused on giving the digital generation good solid communication skills and the funnest way I know how is with DRAMA! My vision and model for my classes are to support student's performance potential and make great communicators. I'm committed to supporting Northland kids and bringing quality performance and presentation opportunities to our youth. I teach the Academy and Speech and Drama Development Classes.

Deb Walters 

Drama Classes and Musical Theatre Teacher

BA (Education)

Deb is a registered teacher and holds a full-time position at Huanui College. In 2016 she trained in Paris at the International School of Acting and Creativity. In 2011 she participated in two weeks intensive training at the world renowned Shakespeare Globe Education Centre in London.  Deb is a life member of Whangarei Theatre Company and has performed in over 35 musical and theatre shows and taught junior community drama classes at WTC. Deb also enjoys singing with Opera North and hosts the annual event Classics at the Cove in Waipu with her husband David Brown. Deb teaches the TaDa Drama and Musical Theatre Development classes.
